The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation, Coca-Cola, and Junior Achievement recently teamed up to host the “4th and Life” High School Football Forum. The day began with Washington Redskins’ Rick “Doc” Walker welcoming hundreds of local high school football players to FedEx Field, challenging each of them to “be ready,” noting “opportunity doesn’t run on a schedule.”

Current Redskins players Darrel Young, Shawn Lauvao, Tyler Polumbus, and Akeem Davis served as panelists along with Junior Achievement representatives and community leaders DaRayl Davis, author and CEO, Financial Assurance Corporation; Mike Steinitz, President, Mid-Atlantic District, Robert Half; Dr. I. Lynne Adams, Director, Center for Professional Development, Prince George’s County Community College; and Van Rawls, Instructional Specialist, Prince George’s County Public Schools and Executive Minister at Uplift Church. Together and in break-out sessions, students talked to the players about topics like time management, community service and leadership, the importance of academics, and life after high school.
